Job summary

Amazon is seeking a Global Capacity Design Engineer, Network and Cable Decom to develop capacity management solutions for the physical layer in AWS data centers and edge sites. You will partner with engineers and managers to design scalable fiber optic and copper plant designs and reduce installation time.

The role involves traveling to data centers, collaborating with stakeholders, and supporting NPI activities to improve infrastructure quality, with a focus on timely, cost-effective design

Qualifications

• 5+ years of construction or project management experience.
• Experience in data center system-level architecture, documenting performance and equipment requirements.
• 2+ years of IT experience, or experience with cabling infrastructure best practices.

Responsibilities

• Ensure timely delivery of scalable fiber optic & copper plant designs.
• Develop an automated solution for routing and utilizing the physical layer.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders to meet capacity and network requirements and turn‑up timelines.
• Identify and respond to risks and high‑priority issues rapidly and effectively.
• Support New Product Introduction activities that improve infrastructure quality, reduce cost and installation time.
• Travel 20+% to review projects and coordinate with onsite personnel and contractors at AWS' Data Centers.
