Job summary

Amazon Data Services, Inc. is seeking an engineer to design fiber connectivity and structured cabling for AWS data centers. You will collaborate with vendors, specify cabling systems, and develop installation guidelines for scalable networks.

The role focuses on addressing complex network architecture challenges and ensuring high reliability and performance across global sites. A background in electrical or communications engineering with data center cabling experience is essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Communications Engineering or related field.
• 1+ years of data center experience or cabling infrastructure experience.
• Expertise in ANSI/TIA, BICSI and related cabling guidelines.
• 2+ years developing fiber test requirements and scripts.
• Experience coordinating with cross-functional teams and external vendors.
• Strong ability to review technical drawings and cabling documentation.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with vendors/manufacturers to develop and evaluate fiber optic solutions and implementation plans.
• Design and specify structured cabling systems (fiber, copper, cable trays/duct banks) for network layers at hyperscale data centers.
• Develop standards, reference designs, and installation guidelines for fiber deployment and structured cabling.
• Tackle ambiguous problems in network architecture and deliver projects with business impact.
• Manage fiber vendors and contractors; perform QA and commissioning of fiber bundles and cabling systems.
• Perform site inspections to validate as-built conditions and ensure compliance with design and operational requirements.
• Monitor network health and build mechanisms to remediate large scale events.
