Job summary

Expeditors seeks a Corporate Counsel – Transactions – Business Enablement to join the Corporate Legal Department. The role provides business-focused legal support for global operations, focusing on entity management, treasury operations, and dispute management.

Based in Bellevue, WA, this in-house position collaborates with Finance, Product, and Global Operations to guide legal risk while enabling business objectives. Excellent communication and practical, risk-based advice are essential.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor, Bachelor of Laws, or equivalent degree.
• Licensed or authorized to practice law in at least one U.S. jurisdiction and in good standing.
• 7+ years of combined legal experience in a law firm, in-house department, government agency, or similar.
• Experience drafting, reviewing, and negotiating commercial agreements.
• Experience working with business clients and stakeholders.
• Strong analytical, research, drafting, and negotiation skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the global lead in Legal for entity management matters (e.g., constituent documents, filings, board meetings, dividends, directorship changes).
• Partner with Finance, Product and Global Business Operations to manage entities, licenses, and approvals.
• Provide practical legal guidance with cross-functional teams (product, finance, tax, treasury, risk, compliance).
• Identify legal and commercial risks and develop practical business-oriented solutions.
• Draft, review, and negotiate a broad range of commercial agreements.
• Develop templates, playbooks, and resources to help business teams navigate legal requirements.
• Manage relationships with outside counsel and other legal service providers.
• Contribute to Legal Department initiatives and continuous improvement.
• Provide cross-functional support inside and outside Legal Department.
