Job summary

Expeditors, a global logistics leader, seeks a Corporate Counsel – Transactions – Business Development to join its Corporate Legal Department in a premier on-site role. You will advise on commercial and corporate contracting for Expeditors’ worldwide operations, partnering with Sales, Finance, Product, and Account Management to drive growth while managing risk.

Qualifications

Juris Doctor, Bachelor of Laws, or equivalent degree.
Licensed or authorized to practice law in at least one U.S. jurisdiction (Washington preferred) and in good standing.
7+ years of combined legal experience in a law firm, in-house legal department, government agency, judicial clerkship, or comparable environment.
Experience drafting, reviewing, and negotiating commercial agreements.
Experience working directly with business clients and stakeholders.
Strong analytical, research, drafting, and negotiation skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
Sound business judgment balancing legal risk with commercial objectives.
Ability to work independently and in a fast-paced team.
Experience negotiating and drafting complex commercial contracts; in-house exposure preferred.

Responsibilities

Draft, review, revise, and negotiate a broad range of commercial agreements supporting Expeditors' global business, focusing on sell-side contracts.
Identify legal/commercial risks and develop practical, business-oriented solutions.
Provide practical legal support for commercial matters and customer-related issues.
Conduct legal research and develop guidance, templates, playbooks, and resources for business teams.
Manage relationships with outside counsel and other legal providers.
Contribute to Legal Department initiatives and continuous improvement efforts.
Provide cross-functional support inside and outside the Legal Department.
