Job summary

Vultr is seeking a Linux Systems Administrator to design, administer, and optimize Linux-based infrastructure supporting our global customer base and data center operations. The ideal candidate is technically driven, detail-oriented, and capable of exercising independent judgment when diagnosing complex system issues and implementing scalable solutions.

Qualifications

• Strong proficiency administering Linux systems (CentOS, Debian, Ubuntu).
• Experience with troubleshooting and resolving non-routine technical issues.
• Familiarity with Bash, Python, or similar scripting languages.
• Experience with virtualization, networking, or software development a plus.
• Hands-on experience configuring and supporting web servers, databases, caching solutions, and firewalls.
• Understanding of common Linux utilities, server/app architecture, security hardening, Ceph, virtualization, load balancing, and core networking concepts.

Responsibilities

• Design, configure, and implement Linux system upgrades and infrastructure changes.
• Administer and maintain Linux servers and services; diagnose performance or security issues.
• Serve as escalation point for Linux-related issues and determine remediation.
• Collaborate with engineering/ops for data center deployments and readiness.
• Perform system migrations; evaluate dependencies, risks, and execution.
• Monitor performance and security posture; ensure compliance with standards.
• Develop automation, scripts, and tooling to improve efficiency.
• Produce technical documentation and diagrams for operations.
