Job summary

Vultr is seeking a Linux Systems Administrator to design, administer, and optimize Linux-based infrastructure supporting our global customer base and data center operations. The role emphasizes independent problem solving and scalable solutions across systems, applications, and networking layers.

You will collaborate with engineering, operations, and data center teams to upgrade infrastructure, ensure security, and support platform expansion in a high-growth cloud environment.

Qualifications

• Strong proficiency administering Linux systems (CentOS, Debian, Ubuntu)
• Experience applying systems-level troubleshooting and analysis
• Familiarity with scripting languages such as Bash, Python
• Experience with virtualization, networking, or software development is a plus
• Hands-on experience configuring and supporting web servers, databases, and firewalls
• Understanding of Linux utilities, server architecture, security hardening, Ceph, virtualization, load balancing, and core networking

Responsibilities

• Design, configure, and implement Linux upgrades and infrastructure changes
• Administer and maintain Linux servers and services
• Serve as escalation point for Linux issues and remediation
• Partner with engineering and operations for new data center deployments
• Migrate applications and systems with dependency risk assessment
• Monitor performance and security posture and enforce security standards
• Develop automation, scripts, and tooling to improve efficiency
• Produce technical docs, diagrams, and standards
• Collaborate cross-functionally to align with reliability and scalability
