Job summary

The Blackstone Group L.P. seeks a Chief Data Officer (CDO) to own and lead the firm’s global data strategy, governance framework, and operating model.

You will establish data ownership, steward networks, and centralized governance to drive data quality and compliance across regions and business lines. You will collaborate with engineering, risk, and business leaders to embed data governance into platforms, ensure lineage, and report progress to executives.

Qualifications

• 15+ years of experience in data governance, data management, or information strategy, with at least 5 years in a global leadership role within financial services, asset management, or private equity.
• Demonstrated success in designing and implementing enterprise data operating models and governance frameworks across multiple regions and business lines.
• Proven ability to influence senior business and technology stakeholders to drive alignment and adoption of enterprise data policies.
• Experience leading cross-functional and cross-regional teams in a matrixed global environment.

Responsibilities

• Define, own, and execute the firm’s global data strategy to leverage data as an asset to make better investment decisions and operate the firm more effectively.
• Lead a hub-and-spoke data operating model with central governance providing oversight, standards, and coordination, and embedded data stewards within business and corporate groups managing data quality.
• Oversee governance requirements, data flows, lineage, and quality rules embedded into data platforms and architectures across regions.
• Develop and oversee global data quality standards, KPIs, and dashboards for monitoring performance and identifying improvements.
• Partner with risk, engineering, and operations to ensure effective data control environments across regulatory reporting processes.
• Serve as the global authority on data governance, advising leadership and the board on data risks and opportunities.
• Represent the firm externally with industry groups to influence best practices.
• Define and maintain global data taxonomies, dictionaries, and metadata standards to drive consistency.
