Business Development Director – US Defense Sector

Defense Sector Experience and a DoD Security Clearance is Required for this position. We seek a seasoned Business Development Director specializing in the U.S. Defense Sector to join our global team. This role will be based in the U.S., aligning with Ericsson’s strategic focus on expanding its presence in the North American market.
What You Will Do
- US Innovation Focus: Collaborate with Ericsson US local teams to innovate within the U.S. Defense sector's mobile communications ecosystem, aligning strategies with Ericsson's goals to develop and deploy leading-edge solutions supporting the DoD's FutureG plans.
- Strategic Initiatives: Oversee the execution of initiatives to remove barriers, strengthen partnerships, and boost US Defense sector mobile communications innovation.
- Market Engagement: Engage with senior executives to position Ericsson as a leader in MCN innovation, aligning offerings with strategic goals and driving industry participation.
- Cross-Functional Coordination: Lead teams on market and business development programs, mentoring junior members to enhance organizational capabilities in defense business development.
- Performance Oversight: Track initiatives against milestones, ensuring documented progress and measurable results for Ericsson.
The position requires
- Deep understanding of the critical communications market, including industry dynamics, regulations, and ecosystem.
- Experience with business development and procurement processes with government and defense agencies.
- Knowledge of operational requirements and delivery models in defense communications.
- Experience in implementing complex technology solutions in defense, translating operational needs into technical execution.
- Understanding of business models and lifecycle costs over long periods.
You will bring
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or similar, with solid mobile communications knowledge.
- At least 10 years of experience in US Defense sector business development, government procurement, or critical communications.
- Entrepreneurial mindset: strategic planning, adaptability, and resilience.
- Customer orientation: understanding operational environments and adding value.
- Strong analytical skills for market analysis and strategy development.
- Collaborative spirit, empathy, and leadership in diverse environments.
- Proven ability to drive large initiatives and influence industry standards.
