Role Overview

The Business Development Director will be a key member of the Absence, Disability, and Workers Compensation Solutions Business Development team. This role involves activities that contribute to the success of the business line and support TELUS Health's broader corporate objectives.

The primary responsibility is to generate revenue and meet individual sales targets.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement a strategic business development plan for Absence, Disability, and Workers Compensation Solutions.
  • Focus on lead generation within the region to increase client activity and new opportunities.
  • Lead client opportunities such as RFI and RFP processes with support from subject matter experts and regional team leads.
  • Build and maintain strategic relationships with prospects and partners.
  • Drive up-selling and cross-selling within TELUS Health's existing client base.
  • Leverage resources effectively to grow customer relationships strategically.
  • Support client strategies that span multiple lines of business.
  • Participate in national sales campaigns and regional conferences.
  • Organize and participate in sales and marketing events as needed.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business or a related field preferred; equivalent work experience acceptable.
  • 5-7+ years of progressive experience in business development, with a successful sales track record.
  • Industry-specific experience in absence and disability management, workers’ compensation, group benefits, occupational health, or related areas.
  • Strong business acumen and experience in client strategy development.
  • Proven ability to develop business development plans.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and professional maturity.
  • Effective time management and strategic thinking skills in a fast-paced environment.
