Appian is seeking a Global Benefits Lead to scale US and international benefits programs from our McLean, VA headquarters. You’ll own day-to-day US health, welfare, and retirement administration while supporting EMEA and APJ delivery, leveraging automation to streamline workflows in a modern global workforce.

You’ll partner with brokers, vendors, and regional HR teams, manage compliance (ERISA/ACA/COBRA/HIPAA), and drive analytics with Workday; this role offers high visibility and strong

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience in benefits administration with ownership of multi-region programs.
• Deep operational expertise in U.S. health, welfare, leave, and retirement plan administration.
• Experience leveraging enterprise HRIS platforms, specifically Workday.
• Strong analytical, spreadsheet, and data-auditing skills with a track record of driving efficiency.

Responsibilities

• Lead Day-to-Day U.S. Benefits Administration: support end-to-end U.S. health and welfare and 401(k) program in partnership with advisors.
• Support International Benefits Delivery: collaborate with brokers and regional HR teams to align benefits across EMEA and APJ.
• Manage Compliance & Vendor Relationships: oversee ERISA, ACA, COBRA, HIPAA and vendor governance.
• Optimize Operations & Workflow Automation: modernize administration and enrollment workflows, leveraging AI tools.
• Drive Strategic Initiatives & Analytics: analyze claims data and lead Open Enrollment and communications.
