Smithfield Foods, Inc. is seeking an experienced Automation Engineer to lead the qualification, validation, and deployment of controls, robotics, machine vision, and automation technologies across processing and packaging. You will serve as the technical authority for automation architecture, safety, and regulatory compliance.

The role partners with U.S. and WH Group engineering teams to identify proven automation technologies, scale solutions, and ensure operational readiness.

Qualificações

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, Automation Engineering, Robotics Engineering, or related field plus 5+ years in industrial automation or equivalent.
• Strong knowledge of PLCs, HMIs, industrial networking, controls architecture, and machine safety systems.
• Experience qualifying and validating manufacturing equipment; global collaboration preferred.
• Experience with robotics, machine vision, inspection technologies, and safety systems.

Responsabilidades

• Lead the qualification and deployment of automation technologies across processing, packaging, and end-of-line operations.
• Standardize controls architectures, PLCs, HMIs, networks, and automation standards globally.
• Oversee safety assessments and compliance with OSHA, ANSI, NFPA, UL, and electrical codes.
• Collaborate with U.S., China, and WH Group teams to transfer and scale technologies.
• Drive innovation in automated manufacturing, AI-enabled inspection, and digital manufacturing solutions.
• Evaluate processing controls, packaging systems, robotics, X-ray, metal detection, and end-of-line solutions.
• Conduct supplier audits and system validation to mitigate risks early in projects.
• Lead capital projects as controls/automation SME, including design reviews and implementation support.
