Job summary

Smithfield Foods is seeking a senior automation professional to lead controls architecture, qualification, and safety compliance for global operations. You will drive standardization, validate new automation technologies, and collaborate with U.S. and China teams to transfer best practices across facilities.

The role focuses on end-to-end automation strategy, equipment evaluation, and capital project leadership, with significant travel to support international projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, Automation Engineering, or Robotics Engineering.
• 5+ years of relevant experience in industrial automation, controls, robotics, or manufacturing engineering.

Responsibilities

• Lead development and standardization of controls architectures and automation standards across global operations.
• Lead qualification, validation, and acceptance testing of automation, robotics, and inspection technologies.
• Ensure machine safety assessments and compliance with OSHA, ANSI, NFPA, UL and electrical codes.
• Collaborate with U.S., China, and WH Group teams to transfer and standardize automation technologies.
• Develop and implement next-generation automation, robotics, machine vision, and digital manufacturing solutions.
• Evaluate processing, packaging, and end-of-line systems for effectiveness and scalability.
• Conduct supplier audits, equipment reviews, and system validation early in projects.
