Job summary

JAS Forwarding (USA), Inc. is seeking an Import Specialist to process air and ocean import shipments, ensure compliance, and deliver high-quality service to customers.

The role requires handling documents, tracking shipments, invoicing, and cost forecasting while maintaining strong communication with vendors and clients. The position emphasizes adherence to ISF and Incoterms, with potential responsibility for customs transactions and coordination with overseas offices.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years’ experience handling imports (air and/or ocean) or combination of education and expertise.
• Knowledge of US customs laws, practices and procedures.
• Excellent organizational and communication skills, with ability to multitask and meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, review and process import documents ensuring accuracy and proper sequence.
• Receive and track bookings, update status, dispatch, collect POD, and invoice files.
• Bill/invoice customers with attention to payment terms.
• Provide accurate job costing forecasts and responsive customer service.
• Assist sales and colleagues with quotes and reporting.
• Ensure compliance with company procedures and regulatory requirements.
• Cross-train and back up team members as needed.
