Job summary

Openwork is seeking an experienced Air Import Agent in Houston, TX to coordinate air freight imports from origin to destination. You will ensure compliance with customs and documentation, and liaise with airlines, brokers, and logistics partners for timely delivery.

The role requires hands-on air import experience, 3+ years in the field, and strong attention to detail. This temp-to-hire position offers a Monday–Friday schedule and competitive hourly pay.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of import/export experience with a focus on air freight.
• Hands-on air import experience required.
• Knowledge of customs regulations and import documentation.
• Experience coordinating with airlines, customs brokers and logistics partners.
• Strong organization and time-management skills are essential.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and logistics software (WebCargo or CargoWise).
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple shipments and priorities.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and manage air freight import shipments from origin to final destination.
• Ensure shipments meet customs regulations and documentation requirements.
• Communicate with airlines, customs brokers, and other logistics partners.
• Prepare and review Bills of Lading, Commercial Invoices, Packing Lists and other import docs.
• Track shipments and address delays or issues affecting delivery.
• Keep customers informed of shipment status and respond to questions.
• Maintain accurate import records and update internal systems.
• Stay current with import regulations and industry practices.
• Assist with additional responsibilities based on department and business needs.
