Job summary

Newell Brands is seeking a Director, Global AI Security & CISO Initiatives to lead the CISO strategy, drive cross-functional execution, and oversee enterprise AI security programs. You will coordinate with IT, Legal, Audit, Privacy, HR, Finance, and business units to translate security priorities into measurable outcomes.

The role focuses on strategy, executive operations, and cybersecurity capabilities measurement, balancing long-term planning with day-to-day governance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in cybersecurity, IT, business administration, risk management, or related discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
• Eight or more years of progressive experience in cybersecurity, technology, security strategy and execution, or a related field.
• Demonstrated experience supporting senior executives and leading complex, cross-functional initiatives in a large enterprise environment (globally).
• Strong understanding of cybersecurity strategy, governance, and common security operating models.
• Proven ability to translate complex technical and risk information into clear business implications and executive-level communications.
• Experience with strategic planning, performance management, financial planning, portfolio management, or organizational operations.
• Exceptional written, verbal, presentation, facilitation, and interpersonal skills.
• Strong analytical judgment, organizational discipline, and attention to detail.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities, navigate ambiguity, and deliver high-quality work under tight deadlines.
• Professional certifications such as CISSP, CISM or equivalent.
• Proven experience using AI tools, including major large language models (LLMs) such as ChatGPT, Microsoft Copilot, and Claude.
• Demonstrated discretion and experience handling highly confidential information.

Responsibilities

• Execute the CISO strategy, roadmap, priorities, and annual objectives.
• Translate priorities into measurable initiatives, milestones, accountabilities, and outcomes.
• Identify dependencies, risks, resource constraints, and execution gaps across the security portfolio.
• Lead high-priority initiatives and special projects crossing organizational boundaries.
• Align Information Security priorities with business objectives, transformation agenda, risk appetite, and IT strategy.
• Establish and manage the operating rhythm for the Office of the CISO, including leadership meetings and reviews.
• Develop agendas, decision materials, action logs, and follow-up mechanisms for leadership accountability.
• Prepare CISO briefings for executive meetings, regulatory discussions, and business reviews.
• Coordinate flow of information into and out of the CISO's office and ensure decisions are communicated.
• Provide visibility into security spending, resource allocation, and vendor commitments.
• Partner with InfoSec service owners on budgets and forecasts.
• Support portfolio management across security programs, projects, services, and technology investments.
• Evaluate investment proposals and ensure resources target highest priority risks.
• Partner with security leaders to define and monitor KPIs, KRIs, and program health measures.
• Develop concise, decision-oriented presentations translating cybersecurity to business terms.
• Monitor progress against the cybersecurity roadmap and accelerate actions when at risk.
• Promote consistent prioritization, decision-making, and accountability across InfoSec.
