Job summary

Topstep LLC is seeking a hands-on GL Manager to lead a small accounting team responsible for payroll, AP, and equity rollforwards. You will review work from Senior GL Accountants, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and audit-readiness across all balance sheet areas.

The role combines close-day ownership with coaching and process improvements as the company scales. Prior experience with NetSuite, extensive Excel use, and CPA inclination are highly valued.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
• 6–8+ years of progressive accounting experience including month-end close.
• 2+ years directly managing or supervising accounting staff.
• Experience capitalizing internally developed software; ERP experience with NetSuite or similar.
• CPA or active CPA pursuit preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop two Senior GL Accountants and an AP Specialist; manage workloads, coach, and assess performance.
• Own payroll accounting, including payroll journal entries and related balance sheet reconciliations.
• Oversee AP coding accuracy and payout activity; ensure proper training and approvals.
• Perform monthly flux/variance analysis across payroll, AP and COGS/ SG&A; summarize insights for leadership.
• Prepare quarterly equity rollforwards and coordinate with Legal/Tax on intercompany and equity treatments.
• Review GL team work, ensure audit-ready documentation, and enforce internal controls.
• Identify process improvements; leverage NetSuite and related tools; collaborate with cross-functional teams.
• Adapt responsibilities as the finance team evolves and take on ad hoc projects as needed.
