Job summary

Topstep is seeking a GL Manager who leads payroll accounting, equity rollforwards, and AP oversight. You will coach a team of Senior GL Accountants, maintain close accuracy, and drive month-end processes while expanding ownership into intercompany and balance sheet areas as priorities evolve.

You’ll collaborate with HR/People, FP&A, and Treasury to ensure clean GL data flows and audit-ready documentation across multiple entities. CPA preferred and ERP expertise essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required.
• 6–8+ years in progressive accounting roles with GL close experience.
• Experience managing 2+ staff and reviewing others’ work.
• Payroll accounting, AP, and expense classification (COGS vs SG&A) experience.
• Experience with NetSuite or a similar ERP system.

Responsibilities

• Directly manage and develop two Senior GL Accountants and an AP Specialist.
• Own payroll JE execution and reconciliations.
• Oversee AP coding accuracy and payout activity.
• Perform monthly flux/variance analysis and COGS vs SG&A review.
• Prepare monthly equity rollforwards and ensure linkage to trial balance.
• Review balance sheet reconciliations and ensure audit readiness.
• Support internal controls, ad hoc projects, and process improvements.
