Job summary

City of Manhattan is seeking a GIS planning intern to gain hands-on experience in research, data analysis, and map creation using ArcGIS Pro. The role includes attending meetings and supporting planning staff with data-driven documents.

Enrollment in a geography, planning, or related program is required, along with proficiency in ArcGIS Pro. This is a seasonal, non-exempt internship with a starting wage of $17.00/hour and open until filled.

Qualifications

• Enrollment in a university curriculum for geography, community and regional planning, public administration, or similar field.
• Proficiency with ArcGIS Pro.

Responsibilities

• Work in ArcGIS Pro to generate maps per project assignments and department management requests.
• Attend administrative and committee meetings.
• Perform basic office functions such as data entry and file management.
• Perform research, synthesize data, and create charts, tables, graphs, reports, memos, etc. to present to the Senior Planner and department management.
• Participate in a variety of projects including updating the Comprehensive Plan.
