Job summary

The City of Manhattan is seeking a GIS Planning Intern to gain hands-on experience in data collection, analysis, and map creation using ArcGIS Pro.

You will support staff by generating maps, attending meetings, performing data entry, and preparing charts and reports for the Senior Planner and department management. This seasonal, non-exempt internship offers weekday hours, 8:00AM–5:00PM, with a starting wage of $17.00 per hour and an open until filled closing date.

Qualifications

• Enrollment in a university curriculum for geography, community and regional planning, public administration, or similar field.
• Proficiency with ArcGIS Pro.

Responsibilities

• Work in ArcGIS Pro to generate maps per project assignments and department management requests.
• Attend administrative and committee meetings.
• Perform basic office functions as needed, such as data entry and file management.
• Perform research, synthesize data, and create charts, tables, graphs, reports, memos, etc. to present to the Senior Planner and department management.
• Participate in a variety of projects as assigned, including updating the Comprehensive Plan.
