Job summary

The City of New York seeks a College Aide (Assignment Level I–III) to support the Geographic Information Systems team. The role involves locating and processing census and demographic data, creating maps with ESRI ArcGIS Pro and ArcGIS Online, and performing spatial analyses to inform agency programs.

Matriculation in an accredited college or graduate program is required. The position may involve part-time responsibilities with potential full-time work during vacation periods.

Qualifications

• Matriculation at an accredited college or graduate school.
• Employment is conditioned upon continuance as a student in a college or graduate school.
• Familiar with GIS principles and Census data usage.
• Experience with ESRI ArcGIS Pro and AGOL preferred.
• Attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Strong communication abilities, both written and verbal.

Responsibilities

• Locate, process, and acquire demographic, census, or other open-source data sets.
• Format data for analytic software and prepare maps and displays.
• Prepare charts and graphs, write reports, and present results.
• Work with census data, agency program data, and other sources to perform spatial analysis.
• Complete other special projects as requested.
