Job summary

Oxford Area High School is seeking a dedicated Assistant Coach to support the Girls Track and Field program. The role emphasizes collaboration with the head coach to develop athletes’ skills, foster teamwork, and uphold a positive, competitive environment for student-athletes.

The position requires planning practices, providing event instruction, and organizing meets and team activities while maintaining safety and open communication with families and administration.

Qualifications

• Previous coaching experience in track and field or a related sport.
• Strong knowledge of track and field events, techniques, and training methodologies.
• Ability to motivate and inspire student-athletes to achieve their best.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Availability to work evenings and weekends during the track and field season.

Responsibilities

• Assist the head coach in planning and conducting all practices and competitions for the girls track and field team.
• Provide instruction and guidance in various track and field events, focusing on skill development and technique improvement.
• Help develop training plans and conditioning programs tailored to individual athletes’ needs.
• Monitor and assess athletes' progress, providing feedback and encouragement to enhance performance.
• Promote sportsmanship, teamwork, and a positive attitude among athletes.
• Assist in organizing and supervising team events, including meets, practices, and team-building activities.
• Communicate effectively with athletes, parents, and school administration regarding schedules, expectations, and team policies.
• Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and guidelines during practices and competitions.
• Support the head coach in maintaining team records, statistics, and other relevant documentation.
• Attend coaching clinics and workshops to stay updated on best practices in coaching and track and field.
