Job summary

Oxford Area High School seeks a Boys Track and Field Assistant Coach to support the head coach in running daily practices, developing athletes, and promoting sportsmanship.

You will assist with event instruction, monitor performance, organize meets, communicate with parents and staff, and help recruit new athletes while ensuring compliance with policies.

This role requires after-school hours, strong coaching knowledge, and a commitment to student-athlete success.

Qualifications

• Previous coaching experience in track and field or a related sport is preferred.
• Strong knowledge of track and field events, training techniques, and athlete development.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact with athletes, parents, and staff.
• Ability to motivate student-athletes to achieve their best.
• Must pass background checks as required by the school district.

Responsibilities

• Assist the head coach in planning and conducting daily practices and training sessions.
• Provide instruction and guidance in various track and field events, focusing on skill development and technique improvement.
• Monitor and evaluate athlete performance, providing constructive feedback to enhance individual and team capabilities.
• Help organize and supervise track meets, including logistics, timing, and athlete participation.
• Foster a positive team culture by promoting teamwork, discipline, and respect among athletes.
• Communicate effectively with athletes, parents, and school administration regarding team activities and expectations.
• Assist in the recruitment of new athletes and help maintain a roster of team members.
• Ensure compliance with all school and district policies, as well as state and national athletic regulations.
• Attend coaching clinics and workshops to stay current with best practices in coaching and athlete development.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the head coach or athletic director.
