Job summary

University Health invites applications for a Gift Shop Manager at University Hospital in San Antonio, TX. You will supervise daily shop operations, manage staff, and ensure a profitable, guest‑friendly store offering gifts, Starbucks, snacks, and related items for patients and visitors.

The role supports the health system’s Guest Relations and Customer Satisfaction policies and requires leadership, retail supervision experience, and Serve Safe certification.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Two years of college in material management preferred.
• Two years supervisory experience in retail sales required.
• Five years experience in Retail Food Operations, or Food Production, or Patient Food Service preferred.
• Three years in a management/supervisory position in a Food Service Operation or equivalent preferred.
• Starbucks work experience is preferred.
• Computer data entry experience is preferred.
• Experience may be waived by the Administrator.

Job description

Manages Gift Shop at University Hospital. To ensure that customers have access to gifts, Starbucks, snacks, and other items which will make their stay or visit a satisfying one. Manager ensures the Gift Shop a profitable operation that contributes to the financial success of the Health System. Promotes the University Health System's Guest Relation's policy and Customer Satisfaction policy.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

A high school diploma or its equivalent is required. Two years of college in courses related to material management is preferred. Two years supervisory experience in retail sales is required. Five years experience in Retail Food Operations, or Food Production, or Patient Food Service preferred. Three years in a management/supervisory position in a Food Service Operation or equivalent preferred. Starbucks work experience is preferred. Computer data entry experience is preferred. Experience may be waived by the Administrator.

LICENSURE/REGISTRATION

Must maintain a current Serve Safe Certification. Must keep current any registration and licenses as appropriate to work duties.
