Job summary

UNC Health Care in Hillsborough, NC seeks a Clinical Nurse to provide competent nursing care in a hospital GI procedure setting. The role reports to the Nurse Manager/Director and coordinates patient care using the nursing process.

Job specifics include full-time onsite work, 40 hours/week, with a $10,000 incentive over 3 years. Requirements include NC RN licensure, BLS, and a Board-approved nursing program; BSN preferred with progression within seven years.

Qualifications

• Graduate of a Board of Nursing approved nursing education program.
• Must be enrolled within four years and obtain a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing within seven years of employment.
• Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in North Carolina.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification for Healthcare Providers.
• One (1) year of nursing experience.

Responsibilities

• Education: identify and meet learning needs of self; attend education programs and use patient education materials; assess readiness to learn.
• Evaluation of Care: identify expected patient outcomes; discuss care plans with interdisciplinary team; communicate to promote continuity of care.
• Implementation: provide care for patients with complex problems; perform bedside point-of-care testing; follow nursing standards and procedures; organize and prioritize care; consult resources for complex issues.
• Leadership: pursue goals for professional growth; collaborate across departments; promote cost-effective care; provide feedback to co-workers; uphold safety and regulatory guidelines.
• Patient Assessment: synthesize data to determine care priorities; assess discharge needs; build relationships with families to advocate patient needs.
• Planning: work with patient/family to update care plans; involve multidisciplinary resources; address cultural and ethnic planning issues.
• Research: read journals and bring ideas to staff for assessment of applicability.
