Qualifications

• Two years of experience in a clinical practice setting as a Medical Assistant.
• Current American Heart Association (AHA) BLS certification may be required depending on division.
• Knowledge of patient safety, CLIA-compliant lab practices, and age-specific patient care.

Responsibilities

• Adheres to MA scope of practice and hospital policies.
• Performs rooming/visit tasks: vitals, history, health maintenance, screenings.
• Assists provider and performs procedures as ordered.
• Performs venipuncture, specimen handling, POCT per standing orders.
• Administers medications and vaccines per rights of administration.
• Handles refills, authorizations, scheduling, and referrals.
• Maintains clean work environment and stocked areas.
• Mentors teammates and may join a committee.

Education

High School Diploma or GED

Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program

Structured military training in clinical area per DD214 as replacement for MA program

EMT training acceptable in lieu of MA program
