Job summary

Serene Gardens of Hartland in Hartland, MI is seeking an energetic Activity Specialist to join our team. The role emphasizes planning and leading social and recreational activities for residents with strong communication skills and experience in geriatrics or recreation.

Part-time position with benefits such as health insurance, PTO, sick leave and a 401(k). Duties include coordinating transportation, creating event materials, and orienting new residents while supporting staff as needed.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree or two years experience in geriatrics, recreation or social administration.
• Ability to communicate effectively and perform simple arithmetic.
• Must be able to work with others in setting up for events.
• Must be able to lift up to 30 lbs.
• Must be able to complete small set-ups independently.
• Must be able to assist residents physically in boarding the bus, sitting, standing and walking.

Responsibilities

• Plan, coordinate and lead a wide range of social and recreational activities for residents.
• Assist with transportation arrangements to events and programs.
• Create, post and distribute information about events and activities.
• Assist with purchasing supplies for activities.
• Orient new residents and serve as a resource to residents.
• Alert staff to residents' concerns.
• Coordinate activities when the Resident Engagement Director is absent.
