Job summary

The ideal candidate has at least one year of experience in a long-care or geriatric setting, strong communication skills, and familiarity with MOR and medical terminology.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent with state specific training required for the position.
• Minimum of one year experience.
• Experience in a long-care community and/or geriatric nursing preferred.
• Good working knowledge of Medication Observation Record (MOR).
• Able to communicate effectively with all levels of management, associates, residents, family members, and outside contacts.
• Clerical and typing skills including typing, data entry, filing, etc. required.
• Experience with Microsoft Office and Outlook software preferred.
• Knowledge and understanding of medical terminology preferred.

Responsibilities

• Checks the six rights of medication administration at three points: when taken, before assisting, and after assisting.
• Assists residents with medications according to MOR.
• Documents on MOR after medication events as per policy.
• Keeps med cart/cabinet neat, organized, and restocked as needed.
• Provides treatments as part of residents’ service plans.
• Responds to resident calls promptly and respects rights to refuse medication.
