Job summary

The Villages of Indiana is seeking a dedicated Caregiver/Medication Manager to provide compassionate personal assistance to residents in our community in Ames, IA. The role includes administering medications, basic bedside care, and daily tasks to support residents’ independence.

You will be responsible for bathing, grooming, helping with mobility, monitoring vital signs, and ensuring a safe, respectful environment in line with state requirements and CPR/First Aid standards.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED preferred.
• Ability to obtain Medication Manager certification on-site at community if not already certified.
• Previous Healthcare, Geriatrics or experience working with the elderly population preferred.
• Desire to work with geriatric population.
• Training per state requirements.
• Must have current CPR and First Aid certification.

Responsibilities

• Bathe and clean residents by bed bath, shower and/or whirlpool.
• Follow medication administration protocols for each resident.
• Assist in grooming residents (teeth, hair, nails, makeup, shaving, glasses).
• Make beds and change linens; keep rooms neat.
• Answer emergency calls promptly.
• Assist residents with bedpan, urinal, or bedside commode; monitor continence needs.
• Record vital signs and report anomalies to nurse or Executive Director.
• Assist in transfers, ambulation, ROM, and safe patient handling.
• Maintain privacy and dignity; follow Resident Bill of Rights.
• Provide activity programming and activity-based care.
• Assist with admission, transfer and discharge preparations.
• Complete daily assignment sheets using authorized abbreviations.
• Follow infection control procedures and report accidents or abuse.
• Maintain equipment and supplies; perform housekeeping duties as assigned.
• Respond to emergencies and other duties as assigned.
