MiraVista Behavioral Health Center in Holyoke, Massachusetts is hiring Mental Health Technician/CNA for a float pool on day shifts. The role involves direct patient care, safety checks, de-escalation, and support across inpatient units.

CNA certification is required, with experienced geriatric/behavioral health background preferred. The position includes a 36-hour weekly schedule (three 12-hour shifts), a $2.00/hr float differential, and comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Bachelor's degree in psychology or human services preferred.
• Minimum of five years experience as PCT/PCA/CNA or Medical Assistant with geriatric or behavioral health patients required.
• Current CNA certification mandatory; dementia/cognitive impairment experience preferred.
• Bachelor's degree may substitute for some experience.
• Strong oral and written communication; ability to maintain professional boundaries.
• Experience in behavioral health or substance inpatient care, restraint reduction/de-escalation, and crisis intervention preferred.
• Compassion, patience, and professionalism in patient care.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care and support across inpatient behavioral health units.
• Willingness to float to all inpatient units daily based on census, acuity, and staffing needs.
• Conduct patient observation and rounds.
• Assist staff with patient care following treatment plans.
• Obtain and document vital signs.
• Monitor and report patient progress to staff.
• Develop therapeutic relationships with patients while maintaining boundaries.
• Assist with activities of daily living as needed.
• Assist with transfers, ambulation, positioning, and mobility safely.
• Provide supervision of patients' activities.
• Monitor safety of patients on unit.
• Process admissions belongings and documentation in EMR.
• Facilitate patient groups and collaborate with the interdisciplinary team.
