Job summary

Fervo Energy is seeking an I&C Operations Engineer to serve as the technical authority for instrumentation, controls, and SCADA at Cape Station. You’ll own reliability and performance, coordinating with operations, maintenance, and engineering to keep a 24/7 geothermal facility running at full output.

You will work with Allen-Bradley PLCs, Ignition SCADA, and field instrumentation, developing dashboards, KPIs, and robust documentation while supporting safety and continuous improvement

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or related discipline.
• Minimum 5+ years of I&C engineering experience at operating industrial, power generation, or similar facilities.
• Hands-on experience with Allen-Bradley PLCs (ControlLogix/CompactLogix) and Rockwell Studio 5000.
• Experience with Ignition SCADA and HMI development; strong knowledge of process instrumentation and control networks.
• Strong technical writing, communication skills, and ability to manage multiple workstreams independently.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the site technical authority for all I&C systems, including PLCs, Ignition SCADA, field instrumentation, and networks.
• Monitor control system and instrumentation performance to proactively identify reliability risks and optimization opportunities.
• Lead root cause analyses (RCA) and after-action reviews (AARs) for control system issues and process upsets; drive corrective actions to closure.
• Collaborate with maintenance to define preventive maintenance strategies for instrumentation and control assets; develop field procedures.
• Maintain accurate I&C documentation, including architecture drawings, loop diagrams, I/O lists, and wiring schematics; update changes promptly.
• Own and improve Cape Station’s Ignition SCADA application, including screens, tagging, alarming, historian integration, and reporting.
• Develop dashboards and daily/real-time reports to give operators and engineers clear visibility into facility health and performance.
