Job summary

Fervo Energy Co. seeks an Instrumentation & Controls Engineer to lead the design and optimization of I&C systems for its geothermal power plants. You will develop high-performance, cost-effective plant designs, mentor junior engineers, and drive standardization across projects.

You will design control architectures for standardized 50 MW blocks, program Rockwell PLCs, and develop comprehensive I&C drawings while coordinating with IT/OT and cybersecurity teams to ensure secure, integrated systems.

Qualifications

ABET-accredited degree in Electrical or Chemical Engineering or related field.
7 years of Instrumentation & Control Engineering experience or related role.
Knowledge of NEC/ISA and industry codes relevant to control systems.
Ability to lead and mentor junior staff.
Strong written and verbal communication skills; able to write clear technical reports.

Responsibilities

Design control system architectures for standardized 50 MW geothermal blocks.
Develop and maintain Ignition SCADA applications (Perspective) including screens and alarms.
Program Rockwell PLCs (ControlLogix, CompactLogix) in Studio 5000; contribute to shared library.
Produce complete I&C drawing packages: wiring diagrams, I/O lists, schematics.
Review P&IDs; size and select instrumentation and valves; ensure proper documentation.
Design control panels and coordinate with fabricators through FAT.
Configure and troubleshoot industrial networks (Modbus, EtherNet/IP, Profinet, OPC-UA).
Support field construction, SAT, loop checks, and commissioning activities.
