Job summary

Frey Consulting Group in Colorado is seeking a Geotechnical Staff Engineer to support commercial, residential, and municipal projects across Northern Colorado. This role blends office work with field assignments, including subsurface investigations, soil evaluation, drilling programs, and pavement design.

The ideal candidate is early-career, technically curious, and eager to work under experienced seniors to build a long-term geotechnical career.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil/Geotechnical Engineering or related field
• EIT or ability to obtain EIT within 6 months
• 0–5 years of engineering experience
• At least 6 months in a field technician or similar role
• Experience with AutoCAD
• Understanding of construction means, methods and field practices
• Strong mathematical, analytical and problem-solving skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Strong organization, time management and attention to detail
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and work in a team
• Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record

Responsibilities

• Conduct geotechnical investigations for commercial, residential and municipal projects
• Assist with foundation evaluations, slope stability, pavement design and earth retention studies
• Plan and support field and subsurface investigations including drilling and boring logs
• Perform and review field and laboratory testing of soils and geotechnical materials
• Analyze data and develop engineering recommendations for review by senior engineers
• Prepare technical reports, project documentation and client deliverables
• Use geotechnical software to support project analysis
• Participate in project meetings and coordinate with internal teams, contractors and clients
• Support multiple projects while meeting quality, schedule and budget expectations
