Westwood Professional Services, Inc. seeks a Geotechnical Project Engineer to join our Power teams.

You will assist senior staff with geotechnical work for power projects including transmission lines, substations, wind and solar projects, performing field work, lab coordination, and analysis. The role involves preparing reports, designs, and construction monitoring, with opportunities to mentor staff and contribute to proposals.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in civil/geotechnical engineering from an ABET accredited college.
• Minimum 2 years of related work experience.
• Knowledge of geotechnical engineering fundamentals, testing, and design/construction practices.
• Geotechnical experience on power projects is a plus.
• Strong technical writing and communication skills.
• Willingness to travel and work in the field up to 2 weeks.

Responsibilities

• Lead on-site coordination and execution of geotechnical site investigations, managing drilling subcontractors and logging soil samples.
• Assess geotechnical laboratory tests and prepare investigation reports.
• Interpret geotechnical data to establish material characteristics and design implications.
• Conduct analyses such as bearing capacity, settlement, slope stability, and geophysical data interpretation.
• Keep management informed of work status and progress on assignments.
• Assist in preparing proposals, bid docs, drawings, and design reports.
• Provide direction to staff engineers.
