Job summary

Froehling & Robertson, Inc. (F&R) is seeking a field instrumentation technician to work with a project manager to assemble, configure, install and commission geotechnical or structural monitoring systems.

You will set up monitoring field work, install instrumentation such as seismographs, crackmeters, piezometers, inclinometers and wireless nodes, monitor and maintain equipment, download data and generate reports for project teams.

Qualifications

• Technical diploma or higher education with basic proficiency in fabrication, maintenance, telemetry or field instrumentation.
• Strong communication and organizational skills to manage schedules, inventory and customer interactions.
• Ability to read plans, specifications and safety instructions; perform calculations and recordings.

Responsibilities

• Set up monitoring field work according to project requirements.
• Install and configure instrumentation for data collection (seismographs, crackmeters, piezometers, inclinometers, etc.).
• Safely remove instrumentation at project completion and during needs.
• Monitor, maintain and repair instrumentation for proper function.
• Download data and create comprehensive reports for project teams.
• Collaborate with team to optimize setups and data collection.
• Adhere to safety protocols and keep accurate installation/maintenance records.
• Stay updated on instrumentation advancements and suggest improvements.
