Job summary

Froehling & Robertson, Inc. (F&R) is seeking an instrumental technician to join our geotechnical monitoring team in Sterling, VA. You will work with a project manager to install and commission systems and ensure data is collected accurately.

This role emphasizes field work, safety, and timely reporting; experience with seismographs, piezometers and other instruments is valued. We offer competitive compensation and a collaborative environment.

Qualifications

• Technical high school diploma or higher education.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel; basic report writing.
• Strong communication and organization to manage schedules and records.
• Ability to interpret plans, specs, safety rules, and manuals.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in the field.

Responsibilities

• Set up monitoring field work per project requirements.
• Install and configure instrumentation for data collection.
• Safely remove instrumentation after completion.
• Monitor, maintain and repair instrumentation.
• Download data and generate comprehensive reports.
• Collaborate to optimize instrumentation setups.
• Follow safety protocols during field work.
• Maintain accurate records of installations and repairs.
• Stay updated on instrumentation tech and recommend improvements.
