Job summary

Froehling & Robertson, Inc. (F&R) in Sterling, VA seeks a field instrumentation technician to work with a project manager to assemble, configure, install and commission geotechnical or structural monitoring systems.

Set up field work, install instrumentation (seismographs, total stations, crackmeters, piezometers, inclinometers, vibrating wire gauges, tiltmeters, wireless nodes) and safely remove or repair equipment as needed.

Qualifications

• Technical High school diploma or higher education.
• Basic proficiency in fabrication/maintenance, wireless devices, survey equipment, telemetry or field instrumentation.
• Strong communication and organizational skills, ability to multi-task and meet deadlines.
• Must have a valid driver's license and be able to pass pre-employment screening.

Responsibilities

• Set up monitoring field work per project requirements.
• Install and configure instrumentation (seismographs, total stations, crackmeters, piezometers, inclinometres, vib gauges, tiltmeters, wireless nodes).
• Safely remove instrumentation at project end or as needed.
• Monitor, maintain and repair instrumentation to ensure proper function.
• Download data and create reports; collaborate to optimize setups.
