Job summary

STV Incorporated is seeking an enthusiastic Geotechnical Lab and Field Services Intern to join our team in a hybrid role requiring at least three days in the office each week. You will gain hands-on experience with geotechnical investigations, soil/rock testing, and field operations on nationwide projects.

This internship targets undergraduates and graduates, with opportunities to learn from experienced professionals and contribute to meaningful infrastructure projects while developing skills in

Qualifications

• Pursuing bachelor’s or master’s degree in Geotechnical or Civil Engineering.
• Ability to lift 50 pounds during lab/field tasks.
• Drilling operations may require out-of-town stays.
• Willingness to learn and work as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Perform soil and rock laboratory testing per AASHTO/ASTM methods.
• Support engineering staff with geotechnical investigation deliverables (boring layouts, data compilation, initial site research).
• Assist in field materials testing, drilling support, sample pickup/delivery.
• Work in varying weather and near heavy construction equipment.
