Job summary

STV is seeking a Geotechnical Lab and Field Services Intern to join our team in Kentucky. This hybrid internship offers hands-on experience on heavy civil underground projects across the United States, including drilling, lab testing, and field mapping.

You will assist in planning and interpreting geotechnical investigations, support boring layouts and data compilation, and help with field sampling while meeting learning goals.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in Geotechnical or Civil Engineering at an ABET-accredited university.
• Ability to lift 50 pounds during lab and field tasks.
• Willingness to travel for drilling operations.
• Team player with curiosity and desire to learn.

Responsibilities

• Perform soil and rock laboratory testing per AASHTO and ASTM methods.
• Assist in geotechnical investigation reports, boring layouts, and data compilation.
• Support field activities: materials testing, drilling support, sample handling.
• Navigate field conditions including varied terrain and weather.
