Job summary

STV is seeking an enthusiastic Geotechnical Lab and Field Services Intern to join our team in a hybrid role. The internship targets undergrad and graduate students who can commit to at least 3 months and work at least three days per week in the office.

You will gain hands‑on experience on heavy civil underground structures across the United States. You will participate in drilling/boring programs, laboratory testing, field mapping, and excavation/tunnel mapping for slopes, embankments, and

Qualifications

• Pursuing bachelor’s or master’s in Geotechnical/Civil Eng at ABET-accredited university.
• Ability to lift 50 pounds for lab and field operations.
• Drilling operations may require out-of-town stays.
• Team player with curiosity and desire to learn.

Responsibilities

• Perform soil and rock laboratory testing per AASHTO/ASTM methods.
• Support geotechnical investigation report deliverables such as boring layouts and data compilation.
• Assist in field testing, drilling support, and sample pickup/delivery.
• Field work occurs in various weather and around construction equipment with dirt/grease exposure.
• Field work may involve walking over varied terrain and bending/kneeling.
