Job summary

GeotechZone is seeking a technician-level geotechnical field professional to support investigations under the direction of a Project Manager or Professional Engineer. You’ll observe drilling operations, log samples, and maintain field records while upholding safety practices.

Travel and outdoor work are required. Responsibilities include coordinating field activities with crews and subcontractors, documenting conditions, and assisting with instrumentation or monitoring tasks when trained.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 3–5 years of geotechnical field or subsurface exploration experience.
• Valid driver's license with clean history.
• Ability to read plans and communicate clearly with project participants.
• Proficiency with laptops/tablets and MS Office.

Responsibilities

• Perform and support geotechnical field investigations, including drilling observation, site reconnaissance, sampling, groundwater observations, and data collection.
• Coordinate with drilling crews, subcontractors, and project personnel to support safe field activities.
• Prepare field logs, boring/test-pit records, and project documentation.
• Communicate field progress and conditions to Project Managers.
• Report unexpected subsurface conditions and safety concerns promptly.
• Maintain field equipment and records in clean condition.
• Assist with instrumentation monitoring and data compilation when trained.
