Engineering Consulting Service seeks a Geotechnical Field Technician to perform field and laboratory testing for geotechnical and construction materials projects. This is a field-based role involving subsurface exploration, construction observation, and data collection.

Role emphasizes safety, hands-on certification progress, and strong communication with project teams. Training periods and certifications are required within defined timelines.

Qualifications

• Requires high school diploma or GED with strong communication and math skills.
• Within 90 days of start, one certification must be completed; within 270 days, basic certifications including Radiation Safety, Soils I, Concrete I.
• Valid driver's license required if driving for ECS.

Responsibilities

• Performs layout of borings and test pits using surveying techniques and GPS.
• Observes and classifies soils and subsurface conditions.
• Performs field tests (DCP), sampling, and documentation.
• Logs soil samples and supports data reduction and project documentation.
• Communicates daily with contractors and project managers about site conditions.
• Supports report preparation, calculations, and test result documentation.
• Maintains field equipment and ensures proper test result documentation.
• Works under direction of project managers and senior staff.
• Performs other field, lab, or project support tasks as assigned.
