Job summary

Partner Engineering and Science, Inc. seeks a Geotechnical Engineering Technician in Torrance, CA to support our geotechnical engineering practice. Responsibilities include field and lab sampling, testing soils and concrete, and documenting results in field reports.

Ideal candidates have 1+ year of field inspection experience, a geology or engineering degree is a plus, and a valid driver’s license. The role involves site visits, reporting, and coordinating with project teams on a regular basis.

Qualifications

• 1+ years’ experience with field inspection, and material testing for soils and concrete
• Geology or Engineering degree is a BIG PLUS
• Driver’s License in good standing, properly insured, capable of driving

Responsibilities

• Perform field and laboratory sampling and testing
• Observe earthwork and concrete construction
• Transport equipment and samples to project sites
• Operate nuclear density gauge and other field equipment
• Sample wet concrete and prepare specimens
• Prepare field inspection reports on a laptop
• Read construction drawings and plot test locations
• Photograph site conditions
• Assist project management with geologic research
• Prepare site plans and report exhibits
• Assist with report and proposal preparation
• Communicate daily with project managers, contractors and clients
