Job summary

First Roles in New Brunswick, New Jersey is seeking a motivated Junior Geotechnical Technician. This entry-level role will perform field and laboratory soil testing to evaluate subsurface conditions and support engineering staff in foundation designs and site construction recommendations.

You will conduct standard field testing, prepare data, and assist with logging soil profiles and preliminary summaries while ensuring safety and quality control of equipment and procedures.

Qualifications

• Entry-level role requiring basic understanding of soil mechanics.
• Must have valid driver’s license and ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Certifications (ACI, NICET, Troxler) are a plus but not required.

Responsibilities

• Perform field soil testing and sampling.
• Conduct laboratory tests according to ASTM/AASHTO standards.
• Record data and log soil profiles for analysis.
• Assist with subsurface exploration logs and preliminary testing summaries.
• Operate and maintain field and lab testing equipment safely.
