Job summary

Shannon & Wilson Inc. in Seattle, WA seeks an Entry-Level Geologist to participate in field explorations, sampling, and geologic reporting as part of a collaborative team.

The role includes observing construction activity, supporting testing, and helping produce field reports with accuracy and clarity. Requirements include a BS in Geology or Engineering Geology (MS/PhD preferred), 0–6 years’ experience, and the ability to travel up to 80% of the time.

Qualifications

• BS in Geology or Engineering Geology; MS/PhD preferred.
• 0–6 years of experience as a Geologist, including soil sampling and some testing experience.
• Have taken or are prepared to take LG exam.
• Experience in geologic interpretation using soil and rock samples; Puget Sound/glacial geology a plus.
• Experience with geotechnical engineering practice and earthwork observation a plus.
• Excellent writing, organizational, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform field explorations, collect samples, construction observation, mapping, and field reports.
• Experience with drilling techniques: hollow stem auger, down-hole bucket auger, rotary coring.
• Organize laboratory data, conduct soil index testing, and report data.
• Interact with subcontractors, clients, and staff at all levels.
• Assist with business development and cost proposals.
• Follow QA policy and health & safety procedures.
• Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
