Job summary

Shannon & Wilson Inc is seeking an Entry-Level Geologist to support field explorations, sampling, and geotechnical analyses. You will work under supervision to collect samples, observe earthwork, and prepare field reports for diverse projects.

The role requires strong writing and communication skills, willingness to travel, and a valid driver's license. A BS in Geology is required, with MS preferred, and you may advance through levels based on performance.

Qualifications

• BS degree in Geology or Engineering Geology; MS preferred.
• 0–6 years of geology experience including soil sampling.
• Take LG exam or be willing to take it.
• Experience interpreting geologic data from samples.
• Knowledge of geotechnical practice and construction observation a plus.
• Excellent writing, organizational and communication skills.
• Willingness to travel and professional demeanor.
• Valid driver's license and insurable record.
• Basic MS Word/Excel; MS Access desirable.

Responsibilities

• Perform field explorations, collect samples, observe construction, and prepare field reports.
• Handle drilling techniques including mud rotary, hollow stem auger, and rotary coring.
• Organize laboratory data and report soil properties.
• Interact with subcontractors, clients, and staff; assist with proposals.
