Wiss, Janney, Elstner Associates, Inc. (WJE) seeks an Associate Principal or Principal Geotechnical Engineer to lead and expand our geotechnical practice across the firm.

The role requires a licensed geotechnical engineer with 20+ years of experience, strong leadership, and a track record of mentoring staff. This position may be based in any WJE office in the continental United States, with a competitive compensation package and comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

• Licensed Geotechnical Engineer in applicable state(s).
• Master's degree or PhD in geotechnical engineering or related field.
• Minimum of 20 years of relevant industry experience (25+ preferred).
• Dedicated self-starter motivated to build a new consulting practice.
• Excellent technical, graphical, written, and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Project management, including client development, scoping, assembling and managing project teams, maintaining schedules and budgets, and managing client expectations and deliverables.
• Technical leadership, applying engineering judgment and knowledge of codes; SME for geotechnical projects; preparing client deliverables and reviewing others' work; field work training.
• Mentorship, fostering staff development and knowledge sharing locally and company-wide on- and off-projects.
• Contributions to geotechnical practice and company-wide objectives, client development and industry involvement.
