Job summary

Langan is seeking a Geotechnical Engineering Intern/Co-op to join its Irvine, CA team. You will assist with technical aspects of diverse geotechnical projects, gain exposure to field work, report preparation, calculations, and site feasibility studies.

You will collaborate with geotechnical leadership, learn AutoCAD and geotechnical software, and contribute to field investigations, data collection, and documentation under guidance. Travel may be required based on business needs.

Qualifications

• A student actively pursuing a 4-year or advanced degree in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering; Geotechnical coursework preferred.
• A cumulative GPA of 3.0 or greater is preferred.
• Working knowledge of AutoCAD and Microsoft Office Suite applications.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong attention to detail with analytical, multitasking, and judgment capabilities.
• Ability to work independently and in a team environment; travel may be required.

Responsibilities

• Assist with planning and execution of field investigations, including logging borings and test pits, collecting samples, and data recording.
• Observe foundation and earthwork construction activities and ensure conformance with plans and specs.
• Identify and implement solutions to field and/or laboratory problems.
• Prepare logs, field forms, daily reports, and chain of custody logs.
• Conduct site reconnaissance, file reviews, and document searches.
• Learn geotechnical engineering software and perform calculations.
• Prepare reports, exhibits, and figures using AutoCAD; document investigations and results.
• Perform other duties as requested.
