Job summary

Langan is seeking an Intern/Co-op in Geotechnical Engineering to join its San Francisco team. The role provides hands-on exposure to field work, feasibility studies, and engineering calculations, with opportunities to collaborate with geotechnical leadership.

You will assist with field investigations, prepare logs, and learn geotechnical software, reporting findings and supporting design efforts. Preference given to juniors/seniors or MS degree seekers.

Qualifications

• Student actively pursuing a 4-year or advanced degree in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering.
• GPA 3.0 or greater preferred.
• Working knowledge of AutoCAD and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong attention to detail with analytical and multitasking abilities.
• Ability to work independently and in a team environment.

Responsibilities

• Assist with planning and execution of field investigations, including logging borings and test pits, collecting samples, and recording data.
• Observe foundation and earthwork construction activities; ensure conformance with plans and specs.
• Identify and implement solutions to field and/or laboratory problems.
• Prepare logs, field forms, and chain of custody logs.
• Conduct file reviews, site reconnaissance, and document searches.
• Perform calculations and learn geotechnical engineering software.
• Prepare reports and exhibits using AutoCAD; document investigations and results.
• Other duties as requested.
