Job summary

Langan Engineering & Environmental Services seeks a Geotechnical Engineer Intern/Co-op to join our Syracuse, NY team. You will assist in a range of geotechnical projects, from fieldwork to report preparation, while collaborating with senior leadership and gaining exposure to feasibility studies.

This role involves field activities, data collection, and the use of geotechnical software. Excellent communication and teamwork are essential, with travel possible based on project needs.

Qualifications

• Active pursuit of a 4‑year or advanced degree in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering.
• GPA of 3.0 or greater preferred.
• Working knowledge of AutoCAD and Microsoft Office Suite.

Responsibilities

• Assist with planning and execution of field investigations (borings, test pits, samples).
• Observe foundation and earthwork activities; monitor conformance with plans and specs.
• Identify and implement solutions to field or laboratory problems.
• Prepare logs and forms (drilling/test pit logs, field dailies, chain of custody).
• Conduct site reconnaissance and document searches.
• Perform calculations and learn geotechnical analyses and software.
• Prepare reports, exhibits, and plans using AutoCAD.
• Draft reports documenting field investigations and results.
• Perform other duties as requested.
