Job summary

Langan is seeking an Intern/Co-op in Geotechnical Engineering to join our Arlington, VA team. You will assist with field investigations, log borings, and data collection, gaining exposure to site feasibility studies, reports, and design documents under supervision.

This hands-on role emphasizes collaboration with geotechnical leadership, measurement and calculations, and use of AutoCAD and geotechnical software.

Qualifications

• Student pursuing a 4-year or advanced degree in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering.
• GPA of 3.0 or greater preferred.
• Working knowledge of AutoCAD and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong attention to detail with analytical, multitasking and judgment capabilities.
• Ability to work independently and in a team environment.

Responsibilities

• Assist with planning and execution of field investigations (borings, test pits, data collection).
• Observe foundation and earthwork construction activities and verify conformance with plans and specs.
• Identify and implement solutions to field/lab problems.
• Prepare logs, field forms, field investigation dailies and chain of custody logs.
• Conduct file reviews, site reconnaissance, and document searches.
• Perform calculations and learn geotechnical software.
• Prepare reports, exhibits, and figures using AutoCAD.
• Prepare reports documenting field investigations and analytical results.
• Perform other duties as requested.
